Use and synthesis method of azodiisobutyronitrile
Recrystallization method 1: Recrystallize chemically pure azobisisobutyronitrile twice with methanol (according to the ratio of 1: 12), air-dry it overnight in a ventilated dark place, then put it into a vacuum drying oven, use phosphorus pentoxide as drying agent, vacuum degree is 1.013*105Pa, decompress and dry for 24 hours.  The refined azodiisobutyronitrile shall be placed in a colored jar, sealed and stored at low temperature and away from light.
2. Add 50ml 95% alcohol into a 150ml triangular flask equipped with reflux condenser tube, heat to near boiling in water bath, quickly add 5gAIBN, oscillate to dissolve it completely (boiling time should not be too long, if it is too long, the decomposition will be serious), filter the hot solution quickly (funnel and suction flask used for filtration must be preheated), cool the filtrate to obtain white crystals, dry in vacuum dryer, melting point is 102℃, and store the product in brown flask at low temperature.
The initiator initiation temperature azodiisobutyronitrile is an excellent free radical initiator. When heated to about 70°C, azodiisobutyronitrile will decompose and release nitrogen and generate free radical (CH3)2CCN. The free radical is relatively stable under the influence of cyano.  It can react with another organic substrate, annihilate itself and generate a new free radical at the same time, thus triggering the chain reaction of free radicals (see free radical reaction).  At the same time, it can also couple two molecules to generate tetramethyl succinonitrile (TMSN) with strong toxicity.
When AIBN is heated to 100 ~ 107 C, it melts and rapidly decomposes, releasing nitrogen and several organic nitrile compounds toxic to human body, which may cause explosion and fire.  It decomposes slowly at room temperature and should be stored below 10 c.  Stay away from fire and heat.  Toxic.  It is metabolized into hydrocyanic acid in blood, liver, brain and other tissues of animals.
Chemical properties: white columnar crystals or white powdery crystals.  Insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, acetone, diethyl ether, petroleum ether and aniline.
It can be used as initiator for polymerization of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, acrylonitrile and other monomers, and also as foaming agent for rubber and plastics, with the dosage of 10% ~ 20%.
This product can also be used as vulcanizing agent, pesticide and intermediate of organic synthesis.
This product is a highly toxic substance. Mice take LD 5017.2 ~ 25 mg/kg orally. Organic cyanide released by thermal decomposition has great toxicity to human body.
Use as polymerization initiator for monomers such as polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl alcohol, polystyrene, polyacrylonitrile, etc.

Use as initiator for polymerization or copolymerization of vinyl acetate and acrylate.  It can also be used as foaming agent.
Use methyl acrylate as a catalyst when embedding tissues.  Initiator of polymer.  Rubber, plastics, foaming agent.  PVC plastic activator.
The production method takes acetone, hydrazine hydrate and sodium cyanide as raw materials;
The condensation reaction temperature is 55-60 deg c, the reaction time is 5h, and then the temperature is cooled to 25-30 deg c for 2h.  When the temperature is reduced below 10℃, chlorine is introduced and the reaction is carried out below 20℃.
The material ratio is: HCN∶: acetone: hydrazine = 1L: 1.5036 kg: 0.415 kg.
Acetone cyanohydrin and hydrazine hydrate are used for reaction, and then liquid chlorine is used for oxidation or aminobutyronitrile is used for oxidation with sodium hypochlorite.
